Spring Break Cruises

Looking to book a cruise for next year spring break....our kids are 10 to 17 years old. How many kids ...really....can we expect on a spring break cruise. Is it all college age kids on a big drunk? Will we have to be more cautious and give them less freedom?

How do the child / teen programs manage that many kids?

Re: Spring Break Cruises

Depends on the line -- most cruise lines won't accept college bookings without adults being present. Check out what cruise line you are sailing, and see the age requirements. Carnival doesnt allow drinking or gambling until 21, rcl allows beer and wine at 18 and casino at 18 -- IMO if i were a college age kid, I would chose the line with the lower age requirement. I've sailed Celebrity at Easter Break, and kids on board was not a problem. Remember that colleges have spring break at varying times -- I think kids looking for a more party atmosphere will chose land vacations, so in general I think cruises are more family oriented. You will see many families on board most ships around Easter time.

Also, most cruiselines require anyone under 21 to have someone 25 or older booked in their cabin.

Re: Spring Break Cruises

I've sailed in March and April and didn't experience college break types due to the above mentioned age requirements. There were lots on kids/teens under 18 years on board both times which was great for my kids.
Smooth sailing,

Also, college spring break in our area is much earlier than my kids school vacation. Here college spring break is in March (2nd or 3rd week) and our vacation is the last week in April.

spring break with daughter

We are goin on Sun Princess Caribbean March 18 out of Ft. Lauderdale. Our 10 year old daughter is coming. We've done spring breaks before and there seems to be just enough children for our liking. Face it - if you DON'T have children and can afford to cruise why would you go at such an expensive time with the opportunity for alot of children around? The kids clubs have been good, the best on Royal Carib and of course Disney. Any other children going on our cruise? West Vancouver BC Canada
