We are thinking of going on a cruise on the Sun Princess in March 06, but we are a little hesitant of the youth program offered. We have been on the Coral Princess and on the Jewel of the Seas with our boys aged 3 and 5 and found their programs to be excellent, especially Jewel of the Seas. Sun Princess is an older ship and we were wondering if any other family with kids of similar ages have cruised on her and how their experience was. We like the 10 day itinerary and her ports of call. We are also considering the Brilliance of the Seas and Caribbean Princess. Any info is greatly appreciate on any of the three ships!
A 10 day itinerary will have less kids/teens on board compared to a 7 day cruise. Also, the Sun is a bit older and doesn't have the bells and whistles that children like such as mini golf, rock walls, etc. However, since your kids are younger, they may not need all those extra facilities to keep them happy. The Caribbean Princess and Brilliance of the Seas are both newer ships (I've been on both -- they're very attractive) and thus have more extensive youth program facilities for kids. I assume your 3 year old is toilet trained, right? They need to be if they are going to be in the kids' program on Princess or RCI.
Let me know what decision you make.

The boys are 3 and 5, but will be 4 and 6 when we sail. The 5 year old has been on 2 cruises, the Jewel and the Coral Princess, and the 3 year old has been on the Jewel. He has been potty trained for a year now, so he was able to participate in the youth program, which he loved. I am trying to find a cruise that is around 10 or 11 days, that is out of Florida or Texas which has good programs for the kids, leaving at the end of March 06. Any suggestions? We have cruised western and eastern Caribbean, the Panama Canal and Mexico.
We are taking our 10 year old daughter at Spring Break. This will be her 6th cruise. She loves it - has the flexibility of joining in the kids club (loved clebrity, disney, hated Norweigan, loved Royal Carrib) We take her because we like her company so either way is fine with us. She choses her own food at the buffets, dresses up for the dining room dinners and it's great.
Any other passengers on this cruise? Any with 09 - 12 year olds? From West Vancouver BC Canada
