Welcome to the boards.
First of all, Carnival is very strict on their age policy. If your child is not 2 years old on the day the cruise starts, they will not be allowed in the children's program. You may be able to take your child to Camp Carnival at certaint times during the day to play, but you would have to stay with her.
There is also no in-room baby-sitting on Carnival, but there is group babysitting in Camp Carnival from 10:00pm on for any age - someone else will know for sure what the charge is, but I believe it is $6.00/hour for the first child in a family and $4/hr for any additional children from that family.

Lisa's input was correct (thanks Lisa) -- kids have to be two years old and there isn't in room babysitting on Carnival (but there is on Royal Caribbean.) You can ask counselors about your child participating since she's a month away but don't expect a yes answer -- but it doesn't hurt to try. In addition to the group babysitting for all ages (infants and toddlers too) after 10 p.m., those under two years old can also come to be babysat for a short period in the mornings that you're in port.

Hey tina..you sound like you are in the exact same boat as me. My daughter will be a month away from turning 2 if we decide to take the cruise I want in April. ( I will be 22 weeks pregnant at the time). I was just wondering what cruise you booked. I am worried about her being bored so I am still in consideration on this. Talk to you soon!
