We are going on the Granduer for a 13 night cruise on 11/19. Although this is over Thanksgiving, I am wondering how many kids will be on board since they would have to pull kids out of school for over a week.
If they have a really small number of kids do they still run the full AO program? My 5 yr old is really looking forward to it.
You may call the cruise line to verify, but I am 99.9% certain that regardless of whether its an 8 day vs. a 13 day cruise they will have AO open, especially on a Thanksgiving cruise. There are many people who pull their kids out of school to cruise. It doesn't seem to matter what time of the year it is, there always seems to be enough kids on the Carnival and RCCL cruises to keep them in business.
There will be a program, but on a longer cruise like that don't expect alot of playmates to be along for your child. Though I suppose all it takes is one or two their age to keep them entertained and happy.
RCI runs its program year round and always has kids (like Carnival) on board. Yes, there'll be a few less since it's a long cruise but then again, it's Thanksgiving time which attracts lots of families.
Enjoy,
