Default does anyone have a fear of sailing?

I am planning a cruise next year. My oldest son says he doesn't know if he wants to go because he is afraid.
While talking to my other kids they say they are afraid too. Now with that cruise ship sinking...how do I convince them that it is not any different than getting in a car or on a plane?

thanks for your help

Hi KM,
What ship do you want to cruise on?? Its possible they are afraid they will be seasick?? When on some of these larger cruiseships, its difficult to feel any moving. I think once the kids are onboard and having fun, they won't be afraid anymore.

I take my kids on cruises constantly however I don't let them see clips on the news of ships sinking, etc! What they don't know won't hurt them!

It's true what Donna said that once they're aboard having a blast in the youth program, they won't be afraid. I'd say to choose a first cruise that is Caribbean or Bahamas or Alaska based for gentlest waters.

Let me know what you decide.

Smooth sailing,
