My wife and I will be taking our first cruise this fall on R.C. I know that this may sound dumb, but we would like to know if topless, or nude sunbathing is allowed on their ships. Also, on their private islalnd, CoCo Cay, is it allowed?
Hi Keith,
No, not on RCI. The only place that you would be able to sunbath nude would be on a balcony. I HAVE seen topless in out of the way areas but it isn't really allowed and they may ask you to put your top on. Topless is allowed on Carnival in an area that is designated for it but totally nudity is still a no-no. Many of the smaller charters such as Bare Necessities, or something like that do specialize in nude cruising and occasionally one of the major ships is chartered by a nudist group. Staff says that THAT is a very interesting cruise! <> Many beaches in the Caribbean do offer topless or at least tolerate it and there are nude beaches to be found, mostly on the French islands. Just remember that the sun is quite a bit stronger in the tropics and you better use lots of sunscreen to avoid some very painful burns to some very tender areas!

Hi Keith,
So far on all my cruises on RCCL, have never seen topless or nude sunbathing.
As for Coco Cay, same there. Coco Cay is a great beach day, lots of water activities and of course the BBQ is good, enjoy the beach and the cruise.
You mentioned that topless sunbathing is permitted in some of the "out of way places", what are some of these places anyway? Have you seen women topless on any of the R.C. cruises?
