Apparently not this weekend, as several vessels that had been scheduled to "turn around" in the Big Apple have shifted their "turn arounds" to other ports including Beantown and the City of Brotherly Love. See the CuriseMates news page for more information.
Port is not open to cruise ships. Virtually all cruise ships have been diverted to Boston, Baltimore and Philadelphia for the rest of the cruise season in NY (which only lasts a few more weeks anyway). Go to web site for cruise line you are interested in for details like bus transfers etc.
One of the cruise ship terminals is being used as staging area
for families of the missing.
I saw something on TV the other night about NY Harbor and merchant vessels. Apparently they have to call the Coast Guard for clearance 24 hours in advance and there are Coast Huard boats and ships patrolling the entrance to the harbor.
