My husband and I are cruising the week of April 8th. My 9 year old daughter is staying with my parents that week, and I'd like to know that if there is an emergency, they'll be able to contact me. How do phone calls work? Or is it at all possible?
Giving them the fax number in addition to a phone number is a great idea. If you do decide you want to call home, a lot of people call from pay phones in the ports. If you have a calling card, you can contact the carrier and ask for instructions for the ports you will be visiting. There's usually a separate phone number and maybe an additional access number. I called home once from the cruiseship and for only 3 minutes it was $20. It was an emergency, so I didn't care.
