Hi fellow cruisers! My husband and I are taking our first cruise on May 3rd, on the Princess Star to the Mexican Rivera. I have done quite a bit of research, but if any one out there has been on this cruise, any comments, hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Lorie
Yipee, good for you!! did you post your question on the Princess Board? i am sure you would get a lot of responses. I love Princess have sailed on the Royal, Sea and upcoming on the Golden. You have picked a great "class" of ship. Not huge but big enough to offer alot . One of our favorite places to hang out and relax is in the Wheelhouse Bar - very nautical decor, nice big comfy chairs to sit in. There is a band so you can dance if you want to.
We were just on the Star Princess 04-05. It is overall the best ship I have been on in 14 cruises. I just posted a review last night and it should be on the "reviews" board in less than a week.
Here is a capsulized version, please e-mail me any specific questions you have...
Food- The food is great, I would choose personal choice on this ship. We changed from traditional after one day. The traditional dining option is impossible because many people choose other restaurants and your table may be empty half the time.
Be sure to try Sabatini's for dinner and at sea brunch. It is fantastic. Tequila's is good too. Try the black bean soup with lobster.
Entertainment- Mostly very good. Singer Joani Butler is outstanding, as is the production show, "Dance!"
Cabins-- Our mini-suite, D-732 was spacious, very functional and had a huge deck.
Casino- Quite good! If you play slots, try "My Rich Uncle." It is quite fun, but I must admit my rich uncle is now a little richer.
P.V. is a wonderful city with far too many things to see and do. You will want to return to this port for a land vacation.
Mazatlan can be disappointing. We took the Sierra Madre Colonial Villages tour. It was great to get out of town and see these charming little Mexican cities.
Cabo is fun, but tendering and a short amount of time, limit your choices. We liked the little $12 glass bottom boat tour, at the dock and then we walked around town and shopped.
It's a great ship, have a great cruise. The ONLY drawback we found, was the embarkation process which was very chaotic and basically a cattle call.
Hi Lorie, my husband and I are going on Star Princess tomorrow too! It's our first cruise and I'm so excited today, I can hardly get any work done. Do you know your cabin number? We have been assigned D411. I'm 40 something with long blond hair, will be wearing a red T-shirt and hanging out in the closest bar as soon as possible .
