Default Best cruise line for first time grandparents traveling with

I want to take my parents on their first cruise this February. I'll be taking my 2 3/4 yr old son and we'll have separate cabins. Carnivals prices are far cheaper than RCI for the 4 night cruise to Mexico, but I wonder is the Ecstasy a good place for two 70 yr olds and a kid? I've cruised both lines to the Caribbean and Alaska and I'm concerned about the party atmosphere we might encounter on the Ecstasy, even though this is their mid-week cruise. I want to entice my parents into cruising with us not scare them off.

My vote would be Carnival. My husband and I took my mother and two kids on Carnival in November. The Camp Carnival for our kids was great! My mother did different types of things on the ship then the pool and parties but still had a great time. She did the high tea, bingo, watched the art auctions, went to the spa talks, sang at the piano bar, went to the shows in the lounges, galley tour etc.

the only drawback might be that since you are going in Feb on a 4 day you might encounter some of the spring-breakers, other than that i think you all will have a great time.

The shorter the cruise( and cheaper) the younger and more "partyish " the crowd. I'd personally go Princess or R.C.I.. (Ihave done Carnival twice) Also check for sure the ages that the childrens programs start on, they are quite strict about age limits)

I took my 74 year old mother on Carnival Fantasy in June and she loved it. She had been on several other lines in the past and claimed this one was at or near the top. But then Mom likes to party too. <grin>

Regards,
Thomas
