Customs or Not?

I am a US citizen with a US passport, but I will traveling from my current overseas residence for a cruise to the Bahamas. As I will be traveling with others from the states, I would like to be prepared for any time delays.

I guess I'd better make my question clear. Will I have to clear customs or not?

If you are a US citizen and have a passport then you will be allowed to keep your passport with you at all times.....But any non US citizen they normally take the passport and give it back once they clear customs at the end of the cruise. That is what happened on my last Carnival cruise.....

We are both US citizens so we didn't have to go to the lounge and clear customs....but the non us citizens did in order to allow us all off the ship and there they got their passports back.
