Default Radiance of the Sea, Christmas, Cruise Virgins have 9 questi

We're cruising on Radiance of the Seas over Christmas. This is our first cruise and we're really excited. Here are our 9 questions:

Is it safe and OK for our 13 year old sons to be on their own on the ship?
Do kids go to formal night, and if so, what do they wear?
What should they wear in the dining room on other nights?
Does it matter if the kids eat at the buffet every night, will it matter to our table?
Can I bring a bottle of wine on the ship? Or little airplane bottles? Is that frowned upon? I might like to have a martini on my balcony before dinner some evening.
Are there drawers in the staterooms?
Is there anything that's really handy to have in the stateroom?
Is there any cellular service in the Caribbean?

Thanks, any and all advice is appreciated!
Shelly

1.I wouldn't give him free regin of the ship, specific places at specific times- think about bringing walkie-talkies
2. Yes, formal night applies to the kids - all your son will need is a nice pair of dark dress trousers a nice dress shirt & tie, dress shoes - jacket is good but not necessary
3. Casual nights means cargo pants or dockers type pant with a jersey (no t-shirts)
4. If the kids want to eat at the buffet that's ok - dinner in the main dining rooms is an experience - especially on formal nights. They are old enough to sit thru a 5 course meal.
5. Most cruise lines will allow a bottle of wine or champagne to be brought aboard ( you can even order one as a bon voyage gift in your stateroom - ask your TA) anything else need to be "smugggled" aboard in your checked baggage
6. Most staterooms have dresser drawers in the closet on in a small bureau - better off hanging stuff up if you can.
7. Handy items - travel alarm clock
8. Cell service in most ports - watch out for those international and roaming charges.

You really have to check with your service carrier about cell service in the Caribbean. We have had Verizon, Voice Stream, and now T-Mobile and none of them had service at the time we were in the Caribbean with their service. They may now, but didn't at that time.

Regards,
Thomas
