Hi everyone. I've posted this on other threads, but really hoping others who've cruised on RCL's Splendour of the Seas will respond. We will be cruising (15 of us) from Tampa 7 nights Western Carribbean Nov. '04.
Enough to do on Splendour for families? How are the superior staterooms w/balcony (enough room for 2 adults, 1 child)....how is the food?, the staff? and the ports (Belize City, Costa Maya, Grand Cayman)?
Please share your tips, advice and stories....we would really appreciate them, this being our first time cruising....we are all pretty easygoing people, just want to make some very happy memories and meet new people......
Also, do you know if we'll be able to get our whole party at one table (15 of us)?
We left from Galveston and went to Cozumel and Costa Maya....Here are my suggestions about the excursion:
In Cozumel we did the Trimarren (misspelled) snorkel thru shoretrips.com , and I highly recommend it. In Costa Maya, we took a walk down the path to the fishing village and shopped and on the way back down the path we stopped at the Tequila beach Club and ate and swam and relaxed on the beach. They don't charge you to use the beach if you order a drink or something. Costa Maya mostly has a rocky coast but at the beach club it was beautiful. The food was wonderful. I suggest the pico de gallo there (it's not hot) but it tastes wonderful.. Always, get a coke in the bottle!!! Diet cokes in Mexico are called Coca Cola Light.
I had the most fun in Costa Maya...It was so relaxing....There is a large facility at the pier that has shopping and restaurants and swimming pools.
Beware of the shops...if they tell you something cost $25.00 tell them it's too high and that $10.00 is what you'll pay...They'll take it.
Oh yeah, you'll see iquanas on the walk to the fishing village.
This ship itself was nice. We were in room 2034. My favorite pastime was playing bingo. I won two games in a row!!!
The food was good, went to a couple shows, etc. We had two kids with us and they had alot of fun. The ship has an outside pool for everyone and one inside pool (very nice) for 16 and up. In the main dining room on casual nights people were dressed in shorts etc. There was only one formal night on our cruise. They have alot of activities to do. If you have any specific questions please email me.
