If you are a US citizen outside the US & get caught, it's not possession it's INTERNATIONAL SMUGGLING. You don't want to think about the penalties and you may also be under the criminal jurisdiction of another country where you have no rights, let alone constitutional ones. You will need help from a lawyer & the US State Department.
I'm getting a little misty-eyed reading this - am I missing my mis-spent youth (a product of the 60's) or, better yet - it could be glaucoma - yeh! that's it - glaucoma. Must be time to get my prescription refilled at the local "hemp" store. Have a great day (reaching for the potato chips!)
Picture that monopoly card.....Go to jail...go directly to jail....do not pass go, do not collect $200...

How's this for scary, just think " bend over and spread them" and I'm sure you will decide not to try anything" funny". A slap on the wrist at home( in the US or Canada) is not the same as " lets throw the key away" in a foreign country.'Don't risk it, and remember that in some ports( Jamaica notably) you will be offered, just say no! They have undercover police there too you know!
Friends of ours, while staying on Jamaica ,were approached at a stop sign and offered MJ. They declined, and at the next corner there was a military/police roadblock, stopping and searching everyone. They figured that the dealer and cops were in cahoots together.
Ever see the movie 'Midnight Run', that was enough to scare me, back in my youth.
I am glad someone asked. I am sure there are poeple out there who actually use it for medical reasons and would like to know what the laws would be regarding this. I have a family member with aids and he has a prescription for it.
If you have a prescription, it should be OK. MJ is a scheduled controlled dangerous substance (CDS). The doctor who prescribed it for your family member was exercising appropriate medical control over it. I hope your family member gets relief from his/her suffering.
I just got back from 10 days on the Mercury...today...no I don't smoke, I used to in my youth too, and yes I do have patients that smoke or use Marinol, but here's the lowdown...our cruise director made an announcement to "...use what you brought on...don't try to get anything past customs..."
Our waiter told me it's common for the staff to "smoke" and the supervisors turn their back...over consumption of alcohol is frowned upon...no passenger is going to smell weed on their staff's breath, but I would hate to smell alcohol on the breath of my waite staff...
