My husband & i are arriving in vancouver the day before we sail, can anyone tell us where is the best hotel to stay over night at & the best place to get a bite to eat ..& would you know the cost for the hotel.. it will just be my husband & i.
I just booked my hotels last month. I used priceline. I was able to get Hyatt Regency for $65 a night. I will be staying at this hotel 1 night before and 1 night after my cruise. Without priceline, this hotel goes for over $200 a night. If you are interested in using priceline, go to www.biddingfortravel.com to learn how to go about bidding for hotels on priceline.
Vancouver is lovely and you'll enjoy it completely.
Consider looking at "www.travelocity.com" to find a hotel room and you'll see a variety of accommodations and rates - certainly you'll find something you'll like and in your price range. Keep in mind, if you're from the US, you'll find a favourable rate of exchange and so what ever the posted room rate is, in Canadian, it is approximately 30% less in US $.
As for food - talk with the concierge at the hotel you select - just to be sure you're getting the best food not too far from your hotel.

The BEST place to stay would be the Pan Pacific hotel in Vancouver since its essentially AT the cruise terminal.
Its a GORGEOUS hotel!!! A bit pricey though - but maybe you can get a good deal, you never know...

I'm from Vancouver, now living in Ottawa - BRRRRRR! There are a LOT of restaurants all around the terminal, especially if you are docking at the "Sails" (the Pan Pacific) They are all moderately priced, some a little higher class, but all extremely good. Makes me homesick just thinking about it.
Have loads of fun! If you have time you must take the Sky Ride up Grouse Mountain. At the top you have all of Vancouver spread before you in all it's splendour - providing it's not raining of course.!
I live an hour from Vancouver and you will be in for a treat. Our city is gorgeous and Stanley park is something you won't want to miss.Gas-town which is near the water-front and is world renowned and a must see when there. The Pan Pacific is a world class hotel and one of the most beautiful. The Hyatt is also very nice. As far as food goes....if you are into haute cuisine "The Prow" at the Pan Pacific is second to none.
Enjoy your trip- and Vancouver.
