Have you been to those ports of call? If so, what are they like? I feel like a fish out of water on this cruise thing.

Punk... I am only going on my second cruise... and was asking myself the same question. They way I decided was looking at the amount of time spent in each place.
I ended up picking going on Glory.

The Freeport, key west, nassau itinerary is awful! people HATE freeport, Nassau would be your only good port, and Key west there isn't much to do, assuming they have even FINISHED THE PIER there by then, and don't divert to another crappy port (costa maya)
Nassau, St. Thomas, St. maarted is a great itinerary.

Holiday 5-day Western Caribbean
Liberty 8 day Western

I totally agree with the others go for the Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten cruise.
Nassau is an okay port - The Pirate Museum is kind of neat. Paradise Island and a visit to Atlantis Resort is a really good thing to do- you can gamble in this huge, beautiful casino if you want, you can take a tour of the Aquarium for a fee, this is amazing. If you want some beach time, the thing to do is to get a day room at the Comfort Suites next door to Atlantis- this will give you access to the beach that Atlantis uses for about half the cost of a day room at Atlantis. There are a few little souvenior shops on Paradise Island. St. Thomas- breathtaking beautiful beaches with good snorkeling, great duty free shopping. St. Maarteen - beautiful beaches with good snorkeling and great duty free shopping.
