Default Best cruise line/ship for 30's

Hi all,
I was wondering which cruise line/ship would be good for a fun loving couple in their late 30's. We like to stay out late and party.(not to the extent of college kids), good nightlife, entertainment., and physical activities.
We are interested in a Southern Carribean itenerary. So far I have only found two cruises that go there in April 2005. (all the rest depart PR...airfare too expensive)
NCL- Spirit and the Sun Princess. Could be interested in an Eastern Carrib itnerary as well.
I am afraid that I will book on a ship that shuts down at 10pm.
In 2005 I have alot to celebrate! 20 years with my job...20 years with my Hubby...and my 40 th birthday (actually mourn that one).
So I want my cruise to be especially memorable...yet not too expensive.

Any info/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Barb

First time cruiser. Hope to have many more.

Hi Barb,
While you are looking around, you may want to check into some Royal Caribbean ships, either any Voyager class or Radiance class. Especially with the Voyager class, lots more activities than most ships, they have them in Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean.

From what you have described about yourself and your budget, I would give Carnival a try. I suspect you would not be disappointed and neither would your wallet!

I would suggest Carnival or Royal Caribbean. I've never been on NCL or Princess so I can't comment on those, but I can tell you that we've cruised many times with both RCCL & Carnival and have had great times on both.
My husband & are of the same mindset as you ("stay out late and party, good nightlife, entertainment., and physical activities."). We have done the Western Caribbean (Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios, Labadee) twice and the Eastern Caribbean (San Juan, St Maartin, St Thomas) twice. We just did RCCL's Adventure of the Seas out of San Juan, and I think the Eastern or Western Caribbean itineries/ships are just as fun. (Especially the Voyager class ships.)

I think you would enjoy any of them.

Here are a few choices to consider:

Carnival

7 Night - Caribbean, Eastern - Departs from Miami
Carnival Victory and Carnival Destiny
Ports of Call: San Juan, St. Maarten, St. Thomas

7 Night - Caribbean, Eastern - Departs from Port Canaveral
Carnival - Carnival Glory
Ports of Call: Salt Cay (Nassau), St. Thomas, St. Maarten

7 Night - Caribbean, Western - Departs from Miami
Carnival - Carnival Triumph
Ports of Call: Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios

7 Night - Caribbean, Western - Departs from Port Canaveral
Carnival - Carnival Glory
Ports of Call: Key West, Belize City, Cozumel, Progreso

7 Night - Caribbean, Western - Departs from Tampa Bay
Carnival - Carnival Miracle
Ports of Call: Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Belize City

7 Night - Caribbean, Western - Departs from New Orleans
Carnival - Carnival Conquest
Ports of Call: Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, Cozumel

Royal Caribbean

7 Night - Caribbean, Eastern - Departs from Miami
Royal Caribbean - Explorer Of The Seas
Ports of Call: San Juan, Philipsburg, St. Maarten, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, Nassau

7 Night - Caribbean, Eastern - Departs from Miami
Royal Caribbean - Voyager Of The Seas
Ports of Call: Nassau, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, San Juan, Labadee

7 Night - Caribbean, Eastern - Departs from Port Canaveral
Royal Caribbean - Mariner Of The Seas
Ports of Call: Nassau, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, Philipsburg, St. Maarten

7 Night - Caribbean, Western - Departs from New Orleans
Royal Caribbean - Grandeur Of The Seas
Ports of Call: Cozumel, Georgetown, Costa Maya, Costa Maya

7 Night - Caribbean, Western - Departs from Tampa Bay
Royal Caribbean - Splendour Of The Seas
Ports of Call: Georgetown, Costa Maya (Majahual), Belize City, Cozumel

7 Night - Caribbean, Western - Departs from Galveston
Royal Caribbean - Rhapsody Of The Seas
Ports of Call: Key West, At Sea, Grand Cayman, Cozumel

Babsee101 - kick it up a notch and try Princess - great cruise line - casual elegance -yet not snotty or anything like that. Great nightlife - really good shows, good bands, great disco. We are a couple in our mid-fourties who also like to party and like the nightlife and we haven't been dissapointed with Princess at all - Total class act all the way. FRESH WATER POOLS - OPEN 24hrs! as are the Spa's - all other lines have saltwater pools that are closed nightly and drained. This was a big plus for us. The newer Grand Class Princess ships have outdoor movies on deck - like a drive-in.
For those special occasions you can have "white glove dinner on your balcony"
Found that the food on Princess was much better than on Carnival
Haven't cruised RCCL yet, so i can't offer up anything.

I also suggest you look at Princess, we did two Carnival cruises in our late twenties to early thirties, then in our mid thirties we switched to Princess and LOVED it.
Carnival is "fun" but Princess is fun with elegance and not the lest bit stuffy. Nicer pools and deck areas alsol.
Also I think you could look into a Eastern or western Caribbean cruise if you want to save money, there are some great ports to visit and the departure ports( Miami or Ft. L. are way cheaper airfare wise to get to)

I'll vote for the NCL Spirit. I have never sailed her but enjoyed my trip on the Sky. There were lots of people our age -- late 30's. The night life was just what we wanted -- there was stuff going on in all the venues but it wasn't crazy like college.

I think Carnival will be too young for you. Friends just got back & HATED it. They said it was very juvenile & too much like a cross between college & nursery school. Their words, not mine. I have never sailed the line; the party hearty reputation alone scared me away.

We had a good time on our RCCL cruise but found better, more diverse night life on NCL. Sometimes on RCCL we were the only ones in a particular lounge after 10 pm. Even the disco, which isn't our style per se, wasn't crowded. We had gone over there looking for people.

Hi all,

Thanks for your responses.
I have checked out iteneraries for RCCL. Carnival, Princess and NCL. I still like the Princess and NCL iteneraries the best. They both offer longer 9 and 10 day S.Carrib cruises in April. Plus it sounds like they would both be appealing to our "cruise style"

I Th found a cool tool on this website..."bargain finder" and am comparing quotes from agencies. I went ahead and put both cruises in. 4 respones in a couple of hours!!! Hope the winner is trustworthy. I will definately investigate.

Anywho....Leaning towards the Princess cruise. Not ruling out NCL however. Just can't decide for sure. For whatever reason., airfare is so much higher into Miami than F.L.
thus making the Ncl Spirit cruise higher.

Thanks again,
Barb
