Default 1st time cruise, help needed

Family of 5 booked Dec 11 on Century, E. Caribbean. We are very excited to cruise and are looking forward to our adventure. Budget is tighter than I had hoped and I need options to shore excursions. What Islands are they neccessary on, what Island can we navigate without the extra cost. We would like to do 2 excursions, depending on the ones reccomended.
San Juan, Charlotte Amalie, Philipsburg, Nassau.

Thank you so much!!

Every one of those ports you can walk around the town without doing an excursion.

The most expensive ones are dolphin encounters, sting ray swims, snorkelling trips and such. We liked the island type tours, where it costs about $45 per person and you ride a tour bus (open) around the island and a narrator describes the history and local customs of the islands.

The price of excursions runs the gamut, from maybe $15 per person to over $100 per person for golf outings.

Regards,
Thomas

Charlotte Amalie... requires NO shore excursions. Grab a taxi at the pier.. prices are set.. and head to one of numerous beaches (Sapphire Beach or Megan's Bay.. both good choices). A bit more adventurous.. take the taxi to Red Hook Pier, ferry over to St. Johns, then a taxi to Trunk Bay (perhaps the most beautiful beach in the Caribbean).

Phillipsburg, St. Marteen... rent a car, jeep or van. The island is not difficult to get around. You can stop at any number of beaches, and visit the French side of the island very easily.

With a family, I'd probably look at doing a tour in Nassau....just not alot to do there otherwise.

San Juan... you can easily spend a day just walking through Old San Juan, and visiting the fort at El Morro with NO tour. However if you want to venture off... a tour to the Rain Forrest would be enjoyable.
