Default Same cruise for cheaper?

Ok, this may seem like one of those stupid questions to some but here goes:

I found my cruise on a different website for 300.00 less then I booked it for. I figured I might see some of that when we got closer to the cruise date and not by that much. Do I do anything about that? Can I call Carnival? I have a feeling thats just the way it goes. I sure could use that extra 600.00 for other stuff, like New York before we sail. Any suggestions?

Hi Tbug,
Just make sure the "cheaper" cruise is the same catagory that you already booked and that all the taxes and port charges are included in that cheaper price. If the price has actually gone down, you can call your travel agent and see if their price is also lower and they can credit you the difference.

My darling husband "surprised" me with this cruise and didn't go through a TA. He had been watching me poke around this site for a month talking about a cruise, so just decided to book it online right with Carnival, without me knowing. He loves to surprise me and it was a very sweet thing to do. I know, according too all your advise on this site that that is not the wise thing to do, but what was I going to do? Wish he had read some of your articles first but oh well.

Yes, I did check that I was comparing "apples to apples" first. Am I screwed now?

Thanks for you help Donna. If there is nothing I can do, I won't tell him. I would never want to bust his bubble.

if it is the EXACT same cruise, a phone-call to Carnival couldn't hurt. Have your booking number.

Get your booking number and post it on cruisecompete.com. Post on that website your itinerary, cabin category, sail date, and your booking number and ask if any TA's want to take it over at a discount under what you've paid Carnival. TA's will post back what they will take over the booking for.

I did the same thing and asked Carnival if I could transfer my booking to a TA for a better price and they said absolutely, no problem.

Regards,
Thomas

Really??!!!! Thats interesting. I suppose I could call a local TA and ask if they are interested in taking it over also. I tried using the cruisecompete feature for another 3 day cruise but still have yet to hear back.

Thanks everybody for your help.

115 days to go!!!!!!

On cruisecompete.com they used to email you back their quotes. Not anymore! Or at least that was my latest experience. You have to go back onto cruisecompete.com and look up your post to see the replies.

Thomas

Thomas,

I tried that too, because I posted that questions earlier, but I still have no reply. Its been a good couple of weeks now. I give up. We'll just go to Disney for a few days instead.

Thanks anyways!
