Default Mailing postcards from island ports?

I love sending postcards to my friends when I'm on various trips. I would love to send them from the wonderful ports I'll be stoping at (San Juan, St. Thomas, Barbados, Dominica, and Aruba). I read somewhere that the ship has stamps that you can buy from each of the islands so you can mail them from port.

Has anyone done this? I'm going to reseach the cost of the stamps but don't really have a clue where I can buy them if not on the ship.

Hi Dina,
You will be able to purchase stamps at the purcers desk for mailing a postcard from that port. You will also see a mailbox up there too, you'll just be buying the stamps from that port, so not expensive at all. Unfortunately, you'll arrive home way before the postcards get to the states, but its still a cool idea, I do that too sometimes.

Dina,
buy your postage and mail your postcards from the ship. That is the easiest way to do it. You will avoid running around the entire island trying to find a postoffice & buying postage- you will get your change in the local currency most likely.

Hi LisaK and donna *waves* Thank you so much. Are the postcards island specific or just pics of the cruise ship?

Hi Dina,
You'll be able to find postcards in all the islands, not hard to find. The cards on the ship will be different ones of that ship, but lots to choose from.

i like this idea and would love to do it , however i was wondering if you do this will the postcards be postmarked from where you are or will they have someother postmark on them? i would go out of my way to do this if the postmark were to say "Nassau" or where ever...does anyone know how this would work?

Thanks!! Tiff

Actually it worked out great. My friend absolutely loved getting the postcards with stamps from each island and postmarked there as well. You can get the stamps for the different ports at the pursers desk or when you get off the ship at each port. There was usually a booth where I could pick up stamps and mail things off from there. St. Thomas had a post office in the shopping area near the ship. The ship has free postcards at the pursers desk as well that show the ship and list Carnival on it. I thought it was appropriate to send off saying.. I'm here your not.. naaa naaa naaa. HAHAHA Joking.
