I'm thinking about doing this to keep track of my experiences so I can share them with everyone later on. I also want to record menus, what I ate, etc. Has anyone else done this? Where can I buy a travel diary? Or do you think a plain old notebook would work?
This will be our first cruise, and am planing on doing the exact same thing. I purchased a 5" x 7" spiral notebook from Wal-Mart. I'm sure there is a better item to use, but that is what we are going ot use.
Lucky devil, we won't be getting our Docs for another three weeks.
yup, i have a travel diary. won't travel without it. started it in disney world, then off to hawaii, took it to vegas, then to hilton head, the grand canyon, and will be going to the caribbean with it NEXT WEEKEND!!!! it's full of my activities, some clips from brochures, doodles, notes to me from the people i traveled with, etc. i write in the car, on the plane, on the balcony overlooking waikiki beach, etc. it's one of my most prized possessions!
it's a hardcover "journal" covered in rich purple velvet. got it at a local bookstore on clearance for 5 bucks. should hold a few decades' worth of travels, since i got the biggest one they had. it's about 8x10 and has around 200 pages.
invest.... TOTALLY worth it!

I too usually write when I travel. I started doing this the first time I went to boarding school, when I was thirteen. My "living abroad journals" have all sorts of things in them. They are FUN to read afterwards.... and you'd be amazed the things that you totally forget about if you don't write down.
Bringing a travel diary is a GREAT idea!
I usually buy mine at Barnes and Noble.... they have nice ones next to the planners, calendars and games (close to the registers).
I've been using a regular bound notebook to record my travels. I've used the same book for all of my cruises (only been on 3). I was on the April 2005 Dawn rogue wave cruise so it's really neat to look back and read what I wrote during that time.
I didn't think to bring one and wish I had. Writing everything up after getting back was a big job and I'm sure I missed adding some good stuff.

I've been on eight cruises and really wish I had kept a travel journal. I do plan to from now on. It would be great to use to record activities, names of places you loved visiting, and of all the great people you meet on cruises. I wish all of you a great time on your next cruise!!!!!!!
