Default Are you allowed to have alcohol/liquor in your room?

I hope this isn't an entirely stupid question. But just curious if you're allowed to have drinks in your room and/or public areas. Or if they are limited to the bars and restaurants only on cruise ships. will be cruising on either princess or HAL. Thanks a bunch

You are allowed to have drinks just about anywhere on the ship (well maybe not while using the treadmills in the gym )

You can order it from room service if you like.

you can get a drink just about everywhere on the ship.
Order a drink from room service if you want to have a cocktail in your stateroom.

Check the "bar set up" thread.
You can also have a bottle waiting for you in your cabin.

Default drinks

And Princess will permit you to bring a reasonable amount of beer and wine on board for cabin consumption or take a bottle into dinner (corkage applies) I always put on board a dozen beers and couple of bottles of wine at ports, just check with ship's security before you go off. Never had a hassle. BUT I still purchase plenty from ships bars and restaurant, believe me.
