Default Self Assist on Disembarkment

Okay, so I am excited to say that we finally booked our first cruise together! Thank you to everyone for your advice. After checking everything out and searching for a good deal, we decided on a 7 night Western Carribean on RCI Rhapsody. Thank you all for your help!

So, now another question! Tell me all about self assisting off the ship. I heard it somewhere in an article and how it speeds up the disembarkment. How does this work and is it worth it?

Thanks,

Jenny

"Self Assist" - as soon as this ship is cleared by the port authorities (usually around 7:30 AM) those who are willing to carry ALL their luggage off the ship are allowed to depart first.

If you decide you want to do this, you DO NOT put your luggage out in the hall to be collected the night before.

I personally like to relax a bit later in the morning, enjoy breakfast, and make my way off to find the luggage waiting... find a porter... and let them handle it.

One warning.. if you decide on self assist, make certain you can manage your luggage. The staff will not help lug it.

Thanks for the reply! How long would it normally take to Disembark if you do not self assist. We are arriving the day before the cruise, but our flight is leaving the day we get back, so I don't want to be too stressed about making our evening flight in Houston. Oh and will they allow you to use your luggage bags' wheels?

Thanks Again!

Jenny

The self assist disembarkation normally runs from around 7:30 to 8 or 8:15.

After that regular disembarkation starts.

Even if you put your bags out, and do the regular disembark , as lulu said, you'd be off the ship by 10 AM or so at the latest (they do have to prepare the ship for the new passengers).
