Default Avoiding Spring Break 2008

Hi All - hubby and I are going our 1st cruise. We would like to go in April or May, however want to avoid the spring break crowd. Any advice on dates to avoid during that time would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

University spring breaks tend to range from the last week or so of February, through the month of March. In my experience, elementary, middle and high school spring breaks tend to be later, say the middle of March through the middle of April.

If you are wanting to avoid spring break, I would definitly avoid the month of March. The end of April might be the best bet. Most universities finish classes in the first week or two of May, so going any later in May might present the same problem, just with a summer instead of spring break crowd.

You should miss it if you cruise in April or May. Most of the breaks occur in March and some get some days off around Easter, but thats one holiday that isn't the same Sunday every year.

DW and I cruised once during spring break, Mayhem total mayhem. Do avoid it if possible. The cruise was great but the travel to and from Flordia was a nightmare.

I think we're doing our 1st cruise April 13, 2008. You might try that date.

We have cruised a few times the first week of May and LOVED IT, there were few, if any, children on any of our cruises.

I am a school teacher. If you choose April, pick a date late in April. Many school districts pick the first week of April. However I often cruise the first week of April and it's not too bad.

Some cruise lines, such as Princess, limit the numbers of kids on each cruise. That may be a better choice for you just in case.

Default Newbies also

We picked May 18th for that reason- no spring breaks! Mariner of the Seas, Caribbean.
