Default Passports ... My recent experience

Just wanted to let anyone that's interested know, that I recently applied for a new passport and I received it within two weeks. That was without a previous passport to turn over to them, so it seems to me that things are picking up at the passport office! Now if they would just return my birth certificate that I was told to send with the application!

Default Just 2 weeks also!

We had to apply for new passports, not renewal due to unfortunate circumstances and DH received his yesterday, in just 2 weeks. His birth certifcate he sent with the application was returned in the same envelope. I hope mine comes today since we turned our applications in together. We did this at our local post office this time instead of City Hall and we were told 6 to 8 weeks!

Wow, that's impressive. I renewed mine in the spring/early summer, and it was fast. However, my husband applied for a new one and paid to have it expedited, and it got to him two days before our trip! He did apply after me, but I would say the difference is in the timing. I'm sure more people were applying in the spring/summer time frame since that is when most overseas travel probably occurs compared to now. Just a theory because that wasn't all that long ago.
