Default Question about deposit

We are thinking about taking our first cruise next April. It will be myself, my husband, and our 2 grown girls. We want to go to the Caribbean. If we put a deposit down and we need to cancel for any reason, can we still get our deposit back before we make our final payment? Also should we book this soon out? I am concerned priced might go down before the cruise but my husband really wants to pick our room. Thanks for all your help. 8)

If you want to book a specific cabin, do so early. Yes, if your plans should change between booking and final payment, you can get your deposit back, although they do take their sweet time about that.

I depends on the cruise line, however, if you're within 90 days of sailing, your deposit is generally 100% refundable.

One thing you can do it purchase insurance. The base insurance usually covers if someone sailing is sick and can't travel, among other things, but usually not anything else that would keep you from sailing. There is also another type of insurance that is called, "cancel for any reason". This can be almost double the cost, but, worth it if you need to cancel last minute before a sailing, and you will be able to get the majority of your money back.
