Romantic Cruise

Hello folks! First time poster here.

June 2010 will be my Wife and I's 10th anniversary. I am thinking of taking her on a cruise to celebrate this. We will both be first time cruisers.

I am hoping that you can suggest which cruise line/lines I should consider.
Some info about us and what I think I want.

We are both in our mid 40's.
I'm thinking about a 1 week to 10 day cruise.
We honeymooned in St Thomas, and it would be nice if we could stop there for a day.

My most important requirement is that I want a cruise that will blow her socks off. I want her to feel really special and pampered on this.

My budget will be somewhere around $10k. This would need to include airfare, shore excursions, spending money etc. And the cruise itself of course.

Before suggesting we'd need a little more information.

What do you enjoy doing? Is your idea of fun relaxing and reading a book or dancing the night away?

You obviously enjoy the islands so it seems a Southern Caribbean cruise will definitely get you to St. Thomas.

Are you more interested in visiting as many ports as possible or just a few?

We are the reading a good book type for sure. My wife does enjoy a good show(Musicals,comedy etc)

I think she would really enjoy the formal dinners too.

A few ports would do for our first time I think.

ok.. Since you have a generous budget, definitely get a balcony Cat 12. There are several cruises leaving from Florida that visit St. Thomas and a few other islands with plenty of sea days. All of the ships have entertainment and quiet places to read a good book. Call a travel agent and tell them exactly what you want and expect. You can also find many online.. just takes a little research time.

If you have 10,000 bucks to spend, you should have no problem finding a lovely romantic cruise. I would opt for a lovely suite on one of the newest Holland America Ships. The aft facing corner deluxe superior suites are amazing,such as cabin #sc6166 on the Noordam.

We had this category cabin on only a one day cruise and we were blown away, These huge luxurious cabins run about 3K per person for a 10 night cruise. (That gives 4k for other expenses.) These cabins are as nice as any five star hotel and the huge wrap around deck gives you a side view as well as an aft view, and plenty of room for lounging in the sun. I promise you will not be sorry and you won't want to leave your cabin. Romance will be the order of the day.

You might want balance a really nice cabin on one of the more mainstream cruise lines or something like Cunard, Oceania or Regent Seven Seas. However, I'm not sure if any of those lines will be in the Caribbean in the summer. Another option (less formal & no shows) would be a sailing ship like Wind Star or Star Clippers, though they also may not sail in the Caribbean in the summer. Maybe your anniversary celebration should include a trip to a travel agent.
