10 Year Anniversary - Very belated honeymoon cruise

Hi all,

Hubby and I did not get to enjoy a honeymoon so we would like to plan a cruise for our 10 yr. anniversary in Feb. 2011. We have not been any further south than Florida! I know that I would like to visit the island of Roatan on our 7 day journey but other than that I am not sure. Will the weather be warm in that area in February? Also, it all seems so complicated with the different cruise lines dress policies etc. I am leaning toward NCL since hubby really dislikes having a time schedule when it comes to eating! Any opinions on this line, good and bad, would be appreciated.

Also, can anyone recommend a knowledgeable cruise agent in the metro detroit area?

Hi there
Hubby and I are doing our very first cruise for my 50th birthday in November. We are going from Tampa on Carnival Legend which calls at Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize and Roatan. I'll let you know the weather when we come back!!
By the way the Legend does anytime dining that we are doing which gives you that flexibility.
Congrats on your 10yr anniversary. :)

You may want to contact the agent that does a lot of our Cruisemates group cruises, just look in that section for her info. She will certainly give you some great help.

Just an FYI on that port of interest.....

From Johns blog....
"Roatan...beginning next month the Carnival ships will be docking at the new pier built by the Hondurans and Carnival Corporation. The official name of the pier is Mahogany Cruise Center."

All fo the mass market lines are similar enough that it won't make a huge difference to a first time cruiser. Each poster / passanger will have his/her favorites but on balance they all have good points & bad points.

I can't recommend a brick & morter TA in your area but suggest you check the local chamber of commerce, the phone book & the BB. Also read / reearch on your own.

If you really want to go to Roatan, that will eliminate many ships / cruises & make your decision a little bit easier.

There's probably a way to do thsi in excel (& some on line travel sites do it too but I can't remember 1 by name right now) but I'm not super techie so I use pen & paper. Make a table with colums. Across the top write the ship / line; next down write the price, then list the posts. Then you can compare side by side.

It will be hard to make a bad choice so just pick what feels interesting to you & fits into both your budget & lifestyle. Happy Anniversary & con voyage.

I will be going to Roatan, Costa Maya and Belize for the first time in January. I will be on NCL gem. I am looking forward to it.

If you want to go on NCL, I recommend the new Norwegian Epic. I think it will be a very fun ship.

Also - you don't say how old you are, or why you want to go to Roatan. More details in what you are interested in will help us help you a lot.

In fact, many ports in the Caribbean offer similar things, so Roatan may not be a necessary decider, which would open up different ships.
