I have booked my first cruise just recently and of course have been doing much planning for it. (Very excited!) I've found very helpful information all through out CM and other sites. However, I was wondering what you ladies do for handbags when on shore excursions? Personally for me I don't want to lug around my heavy purse but also I'm not much of a "fanny" pack kindof gal.
I won't lug around a purse or handbag in ports, but do take a fanny pack, works for me. I'm sure anything small and easy to carry will work and don't forget to take your camera along too.
if you are doing a beach type excursion then a back pack is a must have, i swear by my hip pack but if you don't want to do that then wear cargo shorts with pockets that either zip or velcro close or a sling-type small shoulder bag, just bring the basic essentials while on shore - all i bring is my id, cruise card, credit/debit card, lip balm, a few dollars in small bills for things like a soda, cab fare, small souveniors that type of thing.
Yes, another good tip Lisa, just bring enough cash for the day, leave all your other valuables in your cabin safe. Some people make copies of their passport and carry that with them when getting off the ship in ports.
something to think about- if you get a backpack, wear it backwards, so that the openings are facing your back, wear it snug and if it has a waist strap, cinch it around your waist, if you are thinking why? to deter pickpockets
