Health Declaration Document Ramifications
As I waited to board the ship after filling out my health declaration document,
I remarked to my friend that I find it hard to believe that anyone would be in the line and declare anything on this document that would hint they were and had been sick. The cruisemate replied if they responded positive to being sick or had been they would be examined by a doctor and a decision would be made to put the person into quarantine or worse. If a person lied on the document, they would be subject to being sued by the cruise company if it was proven they were the source of an outbreak or a problem. To go to the ridiculous, the suit could include cleaning the ship and delay of ship departure.

I was wondering if anyone has encountered Health Police?

Have never met them, but would fully support them for enforcing a document that a person has blatently lied on & put everyone else's cruise enjoyment 'at risk'.

On top of the cruise line giving them the cost of cleaning the ship, I would also like to see the cruise line give their details to anyone who picks up the bug, and tell them to go & sue them for compensation rather than the cruise line (or in the long term, us fare paying passengers) picking up the cost.

But then again I'd give the electric chair to anyone who drives on our roads untaxed, uninsured or parks illegally in disabled bays ;)

I agree with you. They are inconsiderate of others.

When I sailed Imagination last year (Dec 2011) we didn't have to do the basic form like my 2 previous cruises. Just a side note there.

If I was well enough to cruise I wouldn't say anything, I wonder if ANYONE ever has?

Short of transmitting some rare disease, I would have to think proving you were the cause of any shipboard illness would be pretty tough in court. Not to mention the judicial chaos that would happen if all of a sudden you could sue someone for giving you a fever.
