What to Do if Your Passport is Expired

It can happen to anyone - planning to take your first cruise in years and you forgot to check your passport until the last minute.

A Passport is always your best identification

Maybe you left it in a safe deposit box since your last move and had not looked at it for several years. In any case - what if your cruise sailing in four weeks and you just noticed your passport is expired?

There are a few different options -

First - Check to see if you are going on a closed loop cruise. That is a cruise that begins and ends in the same U.S. port of call. A trans-canal (Panama Canal) cruise by definition is not "closed loop" because it ends and begins in two different ports. Also - a closed-loop cruise also only visits nations who participate in the WHTI, also known as the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.
