Good Price?
 

Hello,

This spring I will go on my first cruise. My husband and I want to go on the either RCL's Oasis or Allure.

Right now, I am getting the best prices on Oasis on May 11 for around $2,300 for 2 people. Other sites and agents are quoting closer to $2,400 or $2,500.

Two questions, is this price to good to true? (from Cruise Compete)
Is $2,300 a good price for 2 people in the spring on Oasis?

Prices included taxes and fees.

The first thing I always suggest is to look at the price on the cruise line's website. All the major mass-market cruise line's require everyone to advertise the same cruise for the same price. Anyone advertising it for less may be discounting, which is against the cruise line's policy and this places them in danger of having their credentials revoked, so obviously not someone you want to do business with. Keep in mind that what seems to be the best price is often not the best deal. You want to do business with a reputable company that will represent you if you have any problems and need assistance. You don't want to do business with someone who appears to offer a cheap price, but does not provide good service. Alot of those on cruise compete are upstarts and fly-by-nights who are just trying to make a buck and not really interested in providing service. So find yourself a good reputable agent and let them help you through the maze.

You can always look around and find cheaper. Just remember, you are getting the same inclusions as everyone else; dinner, shows etc. My TA usually gives me a $$$$ just for using him. Give me a shout if you need info!

You may be able to look around and find cheaper prices, but the only correct price is the one on the cruise line web site.

By the nature of programming for cruise booking engines they do not update in real time (usually just once a day), so even if you see a great price at any travel agent web site most likely it is an error and if you call you will be told the cruise line's price.

It is absolutely not allowed to discount by a travel agent, but some do get away with it by sending the customer a portion of their commission check when the cruise is over. No, I can't tell you which agents do this, but I have seen their ads here in this site (probably fed to us by Google ads).

But I agree with Pete - I would rather use an agent and get the same price as the cruise line, but get all the added service a good travel agent provides.

Getting to Oasis - we have neighbors book on it as well, and I saw their quote. Another thing you want to do is to check the price before you make final payment. If it has gone down you can request a price adjustment.
