Default What is suggested arrival time from Civitavecchia

Good Morning
Departing Monday Oct 7 at 6pm from Civitavecchia. What would be a suggested arrival time prior to departure? We are overnighting in Rome and just trying to gage travel times to the part and how long we can actually stay in Rome before heading to port.
Thanks and Cheers
W in Vancouver

It depends on how you are traveling - car, train, coach?

Keep in mind traffic can be unpredictable.

Also, it would be a shame if you missed the boat

I would say the earlier the better, but no later than 2:00 or 3:00.

Boarding usually begins around 11am and you are expected be on board minimum an hour prior to sailing. If you arrive early(10-11am) you can get through security, checkin, and be on board in as little as 20mins, arrive later on and it may take an hour to an hour and a half of waiting in lines.

Thank you for the response, it helps. We will probably take the train from Rome to Civitecchia as I understand it is only a little over an hour away and there are lots of trains.
Cheers

Thanks for the input. I am trying to spend at least half a day in Rome before departing by train for Civitecchia. This SilverSeas cruise only has 300 people on it so I can't imagine the lines being too long.
Best Wishes
