I am planning to visit Europe this year and this is my first time. Any great ideas about my trip. Thank you in advance.

There are so many places to go and see in Europe that no matter where you go, you'll have a fantastic time. Be a tourist and visit the Coliseum, stroll through Venice, visit the great architecture in Barcelona or Portugal.

A cruise out of Barcelona or Hamburg would be fun. Also any of the great River Cruises.

Two years ago, we did a Med cruise, I adored Croatia, and Florence. We went at the end of April, for 10 days, and as si sat in the squate in Flornece enjoying the calm, I thought, how glad I was not there, in the height of the season, it would have been claustrophobic, packed with people, so maybe go in Sept, or Oct, after the crowds leave.

Also, get yourself a cross body bag, to have your valuables close.. bring a small umbrella, and a fold up raincoat.

A cruise with lots of Ports Of Call, we are going in Sept, from Barcelona, some great stops, no packing and unpacking. Take a good look at what is available, and one or two will catch your imagination as what you would love to see, and yes, Sept, Oct, or maybe April, May, to miss the heavy tourist time. Some years ago I went to London, my daughter worked there, we popped over to Barcelona, and too Paris, lovely, but the constant getting to airports, then to Hotels, dragging luggage was a real killer, I worked out that I was in the 8 different airports 12 times within the month I was away, looking forward to the change of pace on the cruise.

If you plan to use credit cards, be aware of the exchange rate/conversion fees. There are cards that do not charge these fees.

Get a card that has a "chip". They are new to the US but not new to Europe.

Get familiar with each countries currency so that you feel comfortable using local money.

Use ATMs to get local money in addition to gathering some of it from a bank at home before you leave.

Cruises.. I just love them :) I had one a few years back in Barcelona. It was so good. I want to have a full vacation on a cruise. I think this will be a nice idea. I want this vacation with my children, they will really enjoy this and will be quite happy. Please suggest me some place where we can plan a trip for 15 days and being on the cruise is the first and the last condition. :) Can we arrange a small party on it as it's my husbands birthday. :) Please reply asap. Thank you.
