Default Free shuttles on Kona and Kauai

Free shuttles are available to Wahlmart and KMart on the islands of Kona and Kauai.
I was amazed at the number of cruisers who jumped on the free shuttles but then again after cruising for awhile they needed essentials at non cruise ship prices and the big news was that coffee and souveniers were cheaper at these stores than at shore stores.

Kona isn't an Island. Walmart shuttles are available on both sides of the Big Island, in both Hilo and Kona.

We utilized the free shuttle when ever we could. It convenient to get to all the discount stores all over Hawaii for the best prices. There local buses are also a bargain as I recall & if you have a Medicare card it's half price.

One complaint I heard, and this complaint seems petty to me, there is a five cent charge for each plastic bag used for customer merchandise at Wahlmart.

It's not just Walmart - that's all over the islands. They passed that law to cut down on trash and encourage recycling.

Here in Florida they're not charging yet but when you go to checkout yourself, the first question that pops up on the screen is "do you have your own bags". How do they keep track of how many you use if you pack your own groceries?
