We will be doing our second cruise with Princess in January. We have a snorkel excursion planned in St Thomas but have not in St Maarten as of yet. Just wanted some ideas as to doing our own thing while there...perhaps just walking the town and grabbing our own lunch and drinks. Any advise?
I love the fact that the island is both Dutch and French, so our first time there, we took an island tour, which I found quite interesting. The French side has some nice restaurants by the harbor, and great shopping, pricey, but, fun to window shop. The Dutch side has more bargains, a casino, and Sunset Beach, where you can do lunch,, and watch the planes land an inch over your head!
St. Maarten is one of my favorite Caribbean islands, lots to choose from and even a walk in town is hassle free and enjoyable. I found the locals are nice to visitors while not the "in your face type" that you encounter on other islands.
The America's Cup is usually a fun time and done right at the pier. Just look at all the excursions offered and try to decide what suits you best.
