Default Good Reminder About Passports

I posted this in another area, but thought I'd better post it in the First Time Cruisers' area as well since they're more apt to not know the requirements.

We're constantly telling our clients to make sure that when they are traveling to foreign countries to make sure their passports do not expire within 6 months after the end of their trip.

Here's just another reminder as to why;

How a Little-Known Passport Rule Could Ruin Your Vacation, Costing Thousands - ABC News

Please make sure you heed this advice as I would hate for you to be turned away because you were not aware of this. And keep in mind that airlines and cruise lines will not issue refunds if this happens to you and your travel insurance policy will also not cover this situation.

Pete, thanks for the article. This is why I have sent my son's passport in for renewal; we will be in Italy, Turkey, Greece, next May. His passport would expire in Aug of 2015.

When we found out we were going on a last minute trip to China, we had to quickly get our passports renewed as they were expiring in less than 6 months. We had to pay the expedited fee, but sent them on a Thursday and got them back the next Friday - 8 day turnaround - not bad at all.

But from what my clients are telling me, they're getting their passports back in two to three weeks without the expedited fee. So it's not taking very long to get passports renewed.

Good to know - I noticed the same thing a couple years ago, it only took a few weeks - but that doesn't mean you should put it off!
