Default Are top-deck for tanning popular in Europe

Wondered if top decks which have been mostly eliminated here are popular in Europe.

I dont understand the question and not sure where HERE is? Are you asking or saying that in some places and ships that there are no longer Sun Bathing decks, if so thats news to me, and are you asking if Europe if different, dont know how that would be mate as its all the same thing, differnet branded Carnival lines and ships that cross Europe and the rest of the world depending on season. SO confused, what are you actually asking?

I think it is a reference to Carnival setting aside smaller isolated decks for topless sun bathing. That's my guess.

Still confused as I am not aware of any ship sailing in Europe that allows topless bathing. In fact in most Euro countries its not allowed even on the beaches these days, frowned upon

It's my understanding the french cruiseline Croisières de France has an optional area on board.

Not sure NCL's 3 newest ships have this, but the older NCL ships have a "Freestyle Deck" which is designated for topless bathing. The only times I have wandered up there, they have either been completely deserted or the bathers were fully clothed. I think NCL has three ships doing Europe, so if any of those ships are sailing there I assume this deck is still designated "Freestyle" as this is much more popular with Europeans and would probably be utilized much more there than sailings out of US ports.

Wow, I am surprised to hear this. Are Europeans suddenly becoming as puritanical as we Americans? I just googled an article which listed nearly 20 of the best nude beaches in Europe. And some of them, not just topless, but full nudity. We even have some here in the USA.

You are not wrong in a way. Yes there are "specialist" nudist beaches in Europe as there are in the rest of the world, but the days of on any beach in Europe you can get your top off are today rare. Why the change on value I dont know, but on public beaches it is not the norm today

Your welcome, and we are not sexist in Europe, so getting your top off to the potential disgust of others on the beach does not just relate to women. lol. I'll bet a lot of women walk around beaches and ship sun decks thinking for God sake get your top on, or I might chuck my lunch. And dont get me started on the European Speedo boys, jeez there has to be a time when you say, enough is enough, but some of those passengers (mostly German dont get that). Have they no mirrors in their houses,,,do a try on before you go and look in the mirror again before condeming others to the view,,,I'm gagging at memories of them on ship and the imprint they left in my mind

I don't know, maybe they are the ones with the good healthy self image! They do not care what everyone else thinks. How freeing!

I think Americans are way too fixated on body image. Everyone wants to look like a celebrity, and even they get air brushed, so very few really look that good. American women are shamed if they are not a size 2. Plus size starts at size 8 for heaven's sake. I think we would all be better off if we just accepted ourselves and let it all hang out!

You know what? The last time I checked (because I am a normal male with a normal healthy sense of curiousity about my body, etc. because its only natural, you know).....

Anyway = last time I checked Carnival did NOT officially designate the top deck as "adults only" - especially on the Breeze where the only "top deck" (a tiny area on other Carn ships) also happens to have a "goofy golf" hole on it - however, that one goofy golf hole has been "broken" for quite awhile now.

I can't say why.

Carnival eliminated the Adults Only (topless) deck about four years ago.

Take care,
Mike

Yes, it maybe freeing for them, but honestly it can be gross for the rest of us. Why should I be the victim of having to see what they cant see? In some cases being free should be for only in your own garden, and not with 3000 others on an enclosed ship that we may have to share or witness your "free". Thats basic decency and respect to others. Put it this way, have you ever considered going on a specialist Naturist cruise? They have that same free mentality, let it all hang out....Not for me, its the basic premise of social gathering, you want and expect people that think and act like you to share values

Well, I generally abide by societal norms when it comes the do's and don'ts regarding dress. I'm not going to appear in the dining room in my bikini. But, if a plus size girl feels comfortable in a bikini at the pool, she should refrain because she may offend your delicate sensibilities?. I do admit to people watching, but I don't judge. To each his own and if someone doesn't like how I or someone else looks, that is their problem, not mine.

I fondly remember my sister, who in her later years became very thin, not by choice. On one very hot and humid day she was out and about in a pair of bermuda shorts. She overheard someone mutter, "If my legs looked like that, I would never wear shorts!" My sister turned to her and said, "Skinny people get hot too!".
