Default from Vancouver pier to airport

upon cruise ending (sep 2nd to 9th, Leaving from Seward, Alaska, on the Radiance of the Seas), arriving to Vancouver pier at about 07:00 am.
need to plan my flight to new york that same day.
can someone tell the procedure of getting out of the ship (how long will it take, how do we get to airport from pier, and what is estimated flight time we should reserve from Vancouver airport to NY that day).

I'm surprised your agent wasn't able to answer all your questions for you.

With that said, normally, you'll be off the ship no later than about 9:30 (could be a little earlier or later). To get from the pier to the airport can be done either by taxi or a transfer you can purchase from the cruise line. I normally tell people not to plan a flight out until about noon at the earliest, figuring you'll want to be at the airport at least 90 minutes prior to the flight. As for flights, I like to use kayak.com for my research, but I book directly with the airline.

You can also take the train to the airport. Very nice and you don't have to worry about traffic.

It is a good 45 minutes depending on traffic, but a nice ride too....If you are pushing for time, taxi is the best bet....While the train may work, you will have all your luggage with you and that can be a hassle.

Kayak is not a booking engine. If you want to book it, it will usually take you directly to the airline's website to book it anyway.

The cruise line should tell you how early you can book your flight. Generally, it's around noon. We prefer to use the cruise line transfers to the airport and have never had any problems.
Have a wonderful cruise,

In 2008 we went by bus from the cruise port in Vancouver to the airport. We were told that it would be a 45 minute ride but it turned out to be nearly 2 hours.

Flying from Vancouver to NY, you'll actually have to clear US customs and immigration in Vancouver,

For international flights, because of that and security, they highly recommend being at the airport 2 hrs prior to your flight.

I use Matrix - ITA Software by Google to search for routings/pricing etc then book direct with the airline

The Sky train runs from Canada Place (port) to YVR
TransLink - Transit Schedules

How is that even possible? that's crazy. Was the bus delayed leaving the terminal? I think you could walk it in two hours.

The train is great if you're ok walking a couple of blocks with your luggage. Cab is easy and there should be lots. Usually it's around a 35 min. drive.

The traffic was horrible .I agree that walking would have probably been faster.

If you take the ship's shuttle bus to the airport your disembarkation time will be set by the time of your flight. The bus will usually get you to the airport at least two hours ahead of your flight boarding time.
