Default Western Caribbean Beaches

Full disclousure, this is my second cruise but i still had a novice type question. I am sailing on Allure in 2 weeks and my friends and I just want to go to a nice beach in each port. There are so many, we are looking for calmer waters to swim in and a little elbow room. The ability to rent a chair would be nice too.

Our ports are Nassau, St Thomas an St Marteen. If you have been to any beautiful beaches on these islands, I would love your input!

I'd suggest taking a taxi over to Meagans Bay in St. Thomas, very calm and beautiful beach....You can get chairs there too....They also make a stop downtown on the way back if you want to get off and do some shopping...In St. Maarten, I like Orient beach, a bit more of a ride, but you can share a cab with others to cut the cost....again, chairs, bars and food available and there are also taxi's waiting to take you back to port. There is also a beach right at the pier in St. Maarten if you don't feel like taking a ride...

I agree with the beaches mentioned, but be aware that Orient Beach is on the French side, therefore, part of the very large beach is topless or nude. Although a large portion of the great beach is not, there is nothing stopping folks from walking from one section to the other. If this is an issue, you may want to avoid the French beaches.

While on St. Thomas, you may want to consider a trip/tour to St. John's Trunk Bay. World famous beach that I have seen featured in both still photographs and movies. Also, known for great snorkeling. Probably the best beach that I have been to any place in the Caribbean. It is part of a National Park so no ugly buildings anywhere nearby or within eye sight.

A fun beach in St Martn is Maho, it is right by the airport. Though is can be crowded and might miss the calm criterium. Als there are a few places along Grand Bay n downtown Phillipsburg with chairs, bars and restaurants, though it is not nearly as pretty as Orient Beach. I've heard others talk about Dawn Beach though I've not been there.

I have also heard good things about Saphire Beach in St Thomas.

Nassau: cable or Paradise beach. Cable beach is a short taxi ride; Paradise beach is by Atlantis Hotel; but for closeness Hilton Hotel next to cruise port. Its a five minute walk from the ship. They have a package where you can have a beach day. Check with shore excursion desk on Allure; also Hilton is next to Senior Frogs
St. Thomas: Meagan Bay or Sapphire Beach. I was not impressed with Sapphire Beach. Meagan Bay is beautiful and they have a restaurant.
St. Maarten: Right at the end of where the ships dock there is a water taxi. The beach is in front of cruise dock. Pretty cheap to rent chair and umbrella; they have jet ski's and stuff. All the shopping and places to eat are right there..
