If you don't want to pre-pay the gratuities, just have them automatically charged to your onboard account. Then you don't have to worry about. But however you do the gratuities, don't stiff the staff - not good. Calculate into the cost of your cruise and just go with it.

I always tip extra for all the excellent service.

Travelling solo, my waiter or cabin boy receive an additional tip when they do some "Extra" for me. Way and above the normal service.

Its so much more special being served by a male waiter or cabin boy instead of all these women with flirt with the men.

I dont approve of that kind of behaviour on ships.

Is there a downside to cancelling the auto tip on Carnival and just tipping the staff as they deserve to be tipped? I am a generous tipper, but I believe in tipping for service and tipping REALLY WELL for excellent service. I do not like the auto-tip, but do not want to mess over the staff either.
