Default TSA and Bagged Candy

I wanted to take a pound of M&Ms to be consumed on a long airline trip by myself and cabinmates. My concern is that will TSA let me take the M&M, on the airplane. They will be in original package but they will be purchased before coming to the airport. I know that it depends on the TSA personnel but has anyone done this with any bagged candy. Thanks in advance.

Packaged foods are fine. When I cruised for a month half my suitcase was food I knew I couldn't get on the ship. Things like candy, chips, etc.

No bottles of water/soda/alcohol(can go in luggage), skip fruit or meats if your going international.
