Default Disembark delayed: Missed Flight

Can anyone tell me what Southwest policy is if you missed your flight in Ft Lauderdale if your disembarking is delayed? Thanks in advance.

What time is your flight? I would recommend just using a regular taxi to get to the airport, there should be plenty waiting for the cruise passengers...

My flight is earlier than I wanted. 10:15am. I am carrying off my luggage and I always take a cab. I am just one that tries to figure all senarios just in case. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it.

Under normal circumstances you should be fine. Usually, early disembarkation can get off as early as 7:30-7:45. Taxis will be waiting and it only takes 10-15 minutes to get to the airport as it's only about 3 miles away. So if all works according to plan, you should be able to get to the airport by 8:30, which is plenty of time.

As for if you miss your flight due to a delay in getting to the airport, if I remember right, Southwest is pretty lenient about it provided you give them notice as soon as possible letting them know you're going to miss your intended flight. This may have changed, so I would suggest contacting SW directly and asking them the question to make sure you get the latest policy.

But to take away all hassle and stress, I also highly recommend you purchase travel insurance. You always hope it's a waste of your money, but if you need it, you're sure damn glad you've got it.

Depending on what ship you are on, last cruise on Allure of the Seas, we were able to do our flight check-in and print boarding passes the day before, if you are able to do that, a huge time saver. Also, during the cruise, make sure they know that you have an early flight, so you can be one of the first off the ship as soon as it clears.

Thank you for all the replies. Hopefully all goes well. I just read in the paper just this last weekend it took Carnival passengers 4 hours to get through customs. That is driving my concerns. If I didnt mention it Im on the Emerald Princess disembarking on April 16. Thanks again.
