I know this seems wierd, but I was wondering, are there any tips as to cruise slots- obiously it is the luck of the pull, but i mean, is there a specifc time of the day or a specific time of the cruise period that the machines pay out best? thanks for any inormation - matt

Sometime during the cruise, maybe like the 4th day out, you will notice that the casino will be closed and no one will be able to have access or walk thru the casino. After that is when the slots really loosen up. Just like in Vegas they control the pay-outs. Never use the slots the first couple days out. They are tighter than than tight.....

dos this closing of the casino occur on every trip of every cruise? i have actually heard this somewhere. They said that after the casino had reopened, about eight people hit jackpot in one night.

A little computer chip will determine pay out. Nothing else :)... We all have our little "system" LOL......As far as more Jackpots later in cruise...well that makes sense in that the more the machines are played...the greater the chance of a jackpot. Most people who hit a jackpot are only getting back some of what they put in.....or will put back in ....Common sense dictates that if more is taken out than goes in then casinos would close. That doesnt happen. We only remember what we "won" not what we put in (loss). You must realize that now 80% of a casinos (LV) profit comes from slots. Even gangsters learned long ago that they could legally get rich....YOU WILL NEVER really beat the house....just have a good night from time to time. Everyone has a gimmick to win...but if they do win its no more than being at the right machine at the right time...nothing more or less. Maybe thats why its called gambling :). But I do love the poker lots....oh yeaaaaaa.

Matt-
Rick is absolutely right! The pay-off odds are on a computer chip, installed at the factory! They cannot be reset, on the ship, without all sorts of equipment, etc; that they just don't carry aboard.
Because the pay-offs are random, they can come in "spurts," and it looks like the machine loosened up. However, over a period of time, the house will make it's percentage of play, and some will have won and some lost.

I sailed on the Costa Atlantica in Jan 02, and the casino was only open the first day maybe 10 min. when I hit a jackpot of $1,080.00 on the dollar machine. The pot would have been larger but I only had one coin in instead of 3. The next day I hit another jackpot on the same machine, and one more large jackpot before the week was over. Hit close to 4K on the 3 machines. One never knows when a machine will pay out, and this is why it is called gambling!

Thank You,
