I've seen some lucky dogs on my 16 cruises, but my brother-in-law on the Norway in January was not to be believed.
I was standing right next to him in the ship's casino as he hit no less than SIX jackpots on quarter and dollar slot machines, winning more than $2000. The casino workers knew his name by heart, and almost got to following him around so they could pay him every few minutes. Everything he touched seemed to turn to gold. What are the odds of that happening? What was your biggest payday while on a cruise? This should generate some wild stories!
I had just won $100 in dollar coins and my 20 year old daughter grabbed a handful of them and walked 2 machines down from me, pulled the handle 3 times and won $1800. She put it in our safe and never touched another machine!! Use it for her honeymoon the following year! I should be so lucky!
What luck! Did she give you ANY of her winnings, since she used YOUR money?
The most I ever won was $375 in quarters at a little casino to the left just as you step off the dock to go to
St. Maarten. (but I did find a $20 bill in the parkng lot yesterday, so I really can't complain!) Big jackpots ALWAYS seem to be won by the person standing NEXT to me. Maybe that means I'm good luck for OTHER people!
In 1999 On the Seabreeze I won $1000.00. It paid for my husband and my cruise since we had won the cruise on a auction for $800 buck for a couple. But that lucky video poker machine now lays on the ocean bottom.
Sailed on the Costa Atlantica this past Jan. The casino the first day was open maybe 15 min. and I hit a 1,200.00 jackpot on 1.00 machine. I then played another machine and won 800.00. Next day another 1,200.00 jackpot and at the Atlantis won 1,100.00 in about a half an hr. First time I ever won anything on a cruise ship!
Our luckiest cruise was the one that my wife and I won playing Bingo. While on the cruise I hit 2 royal flushes for $1000 apiece and on the last night she won part of the $25,000 Bingo jackpot split 4 ways for $6,250, for a grand total of $8,250.
My husband and I got back from the Carnival Victory last month and our luck was unreal! Monday night I put $40 in a .25 video poker machine and got a Royal Flush for $1000. Wednesday morning, my husband played a 1.00 video poker machine with some progressives and hit 4 aces for $1700. That evening I played another video poker machine and got ANOTHER Royal Flush (I had never hit one before this cruise!) for another $1000. My husband hit 2 more progressives on the dollar machine for $400 and $1200 respectively. Needless to say, we paid off our sign and sail cards in cash!!!
My husband and I were on the Voyager in January of this year. In one week, I won over $10K on $1 poker (2 royals, and multiple 4-Aces). He won $1K on $1 Wheel of Fortune. There were others who won a lot of money. The casino manager was giving us free drinks and shirts, etc. He sais he had never seen so many winners in one week!
On a bachelor party cruise (to set the tone) with Carnival. The last day of our cruise we drank all day and I was down to my last $50 cash going in to the evening. After dinner we were absolutely smashed and decided to go to the casino for one last hoorah. I woke up in the morning still fully clothed with $900-$1000 in chips falling out of my pockets and all over the floor (still not sure I found them all). My friends told me that I just couldn't lose and had a crowd following me from BJ tables to Roulette for 2 hours. The casino was closing and my last bet was $200 on black (stupid) and sure enough it hit. I can't remember any of this but I paid most of my sail & sign bill in cash before getting off the ship - what a great feeling. By the way, I puked about 4 times on the drive from the port to my home city 3 hours away. I'll never drink that much (at least not the last night) again.
P.S. - My friends also said that I made staff friends for life. I gave away at least as much as I won to the dealers and whatever you call the spinner at Roulette.
Our last cruise this January, 2006 to Hawaii, I couldn't do anything wrong on 3-card poker. Had 3 of a kind 5X and 3 straight flushes. Unfortuately, according to my DH, I was only betting $5. The family joke was that he had to book me on the next cruise so I could continue my winning streak.
