Default Can you earn comps while gambling on Carnival?

I have a silly question. Can you earn comps on a cruise line, like you would in a casino? That's one of the things I enjoy about gambling in a casino. If I drop a few hundred dollars, they give me a credit on my room account for dinner, drinks, free room, etc. Do they do the same on Carnival? We're cruising the Elation next Sunday, and was wondering if they offer any comps for drinks, excursions, etc...
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Nora

Not really. Carnival has the Ocean Player's Club, where you can earn points, that can later be turned in for $ on your next Carnival Corp. ship.

However, you do have to gamble a considerable amount of time and money to collect the points. Playing long enough to win or lose a couple of hundred dollars won't likely qualify you.

But, hey, if you're a player, it never hurts to join.

We just got back from the Fantasy. Your sail and sign card is your casino card. It takes quite a few points just to get a shirt, I think it was about 1200. No free drinks or comps like the land casinos. You only get the points on the slots. We were told you can't get them at the tables and we played for HOURS on the tables. Good luck and have fun.

I called the casino dept at Carnival last night about my player club pts. The answer i recieved was, "As of Jan 2004 Carnival no longer gives pts towards another cruise or pts for money on an upcoming cruise". But, what they do is give comps that you use up on the same cruise. The only problem is you must tell the floor boss to keep track of your OPC (Ocean Players Club) pts, upon arriving at the tables to play. You must also play on a 7 day cruise a combined time aof at least 14 hours. The other major statement is you must bet a minimum of 25.00 per hand or the hour time limit increases to 24 hours.

I'd be shocked that they give anything. And, I've never gotten a straight answer from Carnival Corp office or OPC about anything gambling related. I've had discussions with them for three years running. Second, I just got off the Legend and there was no discount on my bill or "cash back" or anything like that! I did get some t-shirt, key chain, flashlight stuff for the kids, but my play far exceeded the minimum wager mentioned by Storm and usually involved the table maximum. If you plan to gamble, I think it is best to have no expectations about comps, cash-back or anything else, just have fun. Carnival knows you are a hostage and that, if you are a player, you'll play, regardless of what they do for you. All of the ships I've been on have greast casino staffs from dealer to pit crew. I say to hell with OPC.

Well in 7 days I will have no problem playing for more that 24 hours. I just hope that by the time my cruise rolls around in 2005 they will have their casino policies in order. People who actively gamble like knowing they are going to be appreciated by the casino. Ultimate appreciation is to let me come home with more money than I left with. Love it when that happens in Vegas and I have the same fantasy for the Valor. I figure since they start with the same letter it is a sign. lol If more information pops up as people come back from the cruises I would sure appreciate in feedback on the newest policies and what luck people had.

We went on the Elation in April. Played slots quite a bit. At the end of the cruise, received t-shirts, hats and watches. Casino hosts also bought us several rounds of drinks. About a month and a half after we got home, I got a letter from OPC stating that I had almost 200 dollars coming to me, if I cruised again within 24 months. Sue
