Your call, show me evidence or bets that payed out on the God exists scenario. But this is taking it away from the subject, sorry folks, so lets drop it "THE God THEORY" or we can post it on the how DO sheep and fundimentalist FOLK think board or thread.
You are questioning my reality, experience and life without God?? You have No right to and no winner here as I personally as an ex gambler have been there, loved the limited highs and then lived with the majority lows.
Face it some people dont do religion, but just live with the everyday problems that they see presented by the people they share this life with.
Thats my reality, not that when I die things are going to be better. You can face your heaven and hell here on earth
Dont let the devil stand on your shoulder, its an evil practice, gambling.
Why because it is all lies..not only to the individual, but to those around them. Give it up, you never win apart from the short buzz you get at the time, then reality kicks in everytime , usually "the next day"as to what you have done with your families money. Okay you live with it.
Devil? Really? How about the idea that people just enjoy gambling. I'm sorry if you (or someone you know) had so little self control and were so selfish and weak that they ruined their families. However, we as adults make choices everyday that impact our own lives and the lives of people around us. If an individual is too stupid to manage their own life, maybe it is better if a family is destroyed and children are placed with parents who have some sense of life's responsibilities and care more about their own pleasures.
There is no "Devil" that makes you do things. You make stupid choices. Take some responsibility for your life. Blaming the devil is what foolish, selfish morons do so they never have to face the consequences of their own decisions.
David,
I have known people who let gambling and/or drinking and/or drugs (both those prescribed by doc's and not prescribed by anyone!) take over their lives and those of their families. But, I don't think that it makes it wrong for someone who is not addicted to enjoy a couple of drinks or a spin in the casino on vacation. Okay, I am totally against street drugs...just too dangerous when you don't have a clue what you are really getting. Not based on religion....but please don't call that hocus-pocus. Them's fighting words! And I really don't want to fight with a friend.
Marty
Marty, my response was NOT to you, at least we can talk, but aimed above you. But with subjects like drink, drugs, gambling, and sober anger, ie mental people that have anger issues. If people are true then these are the biggest demons most other folks have to deal with, day on day, either in partner or in parent.
It would be great if eveyone could just do most vices in tolerance, but for me life has taught me it dont work that way for all.
When it does fine, and when it don't,,,mmmm. My comments are aimed at those that PUSH IT, not Mr or Mrs Joe Normal, as they know when to stop on all apart from drugs.
Bet you could name at least two "friends" that in any know vice... don't know when to stop... and it bothers you. And that could be a simple thing like they are a gossip, and they cant help it. They have to TELL
But being one of those can actually effect other peoples lives, but they dont see it that way, they see a "harmless" bit of "did you hear".
Compulsions come in all shapes and sizes, and not just gambling. Problem is some cause a bit of grief if found out, others can cause financial problems when found out and reality to be faced because of what one person did in the name of fun
Oh my! Here I am enjoying my bottle of scotch while I read the cruise message boards and dream of my next cruise. I was able to cruise once, when I won the Pick 3. I won $1800 and was able to take my husband and me on a 3-day cruise. It was the best experience of my life!
My game is poker and blackjack! I am king (or Ace-King if you appreciate the odds).
I am the father of 5 kids. I also am a foster family. I try to keep at least 2 foster kids in my house at all times. That way I can generate enough money to play poker each month at the poker club.
Let's just say, if Daddy has a good night it's Mc Donald's all month long. If not, it's peanut butter & jelly!
With my tax refund and my 401(k) sell (I sold everything because the stock market sucks!) I am taking my sexy wife on a 5-night cruise in June! I'm sure we will be in the Casino every night and closing the bars down. Good luck Nassau!
I find it interesting that someone would post remarks regarding how I think. My family interest. My family money. My religion. My gambling habits, etc. I cruise a lot and gamble a lot. It is nobodies business but mine altho, on our December cruise I plan to spend a lot of time playing Blackjack. Our guests on this cruise can do whatever they want. Our guests include Daughter, Two Sons, One Daughter Inlaw and Four Grandsons. They don't seem to mind me spending their inheritance. Amen
"I find it interesting that someone would post remarks regarding how I think. "
I give my opinion not based on your thoughts or experience but mine, you may have thoughts on it, but the opinion is mine based on my experience, you can take it onboard or you can ignore it, simple. Its an opinion, nothing more, nothing less. Does that make me right and you wrong, No
All I'm saying is I've seen both sides of the story, nothing more.
And all I know and it is my experience and opinion, that gamblers are the biggest liars on Earth, they deny or make excuses for everything. When its good, its good and tell everyone, but when its bad they hide the truth.
And thats just my experience of people like me, and back then when I was one of them.
If you are saying gambling is innocent and just a fun thing,,mmm I disagree
I love gambling, but I have never felt the love gambling any place other than Las Vegas. Cruise ships do not tend to bring drinks or dinner to the table while you play or comp your trip.
I agree 100% with your idea of confining your gambling to Las Vegas. Cruise ships pay very low odds on slot machines and some table games.
In Vegas they give me free suites, food, show tickets, etc. So if I happen to lose $200, the way that I look at it I am just paying for a great time 25 cents at a time.
That said, I still stop into the casino when on a cruise and gamble just a few bucks. If the machines let me play, I will stay, otherwise I am off to the show room.

I love the slot machines. I only pay on money I can afford to lose on. One cruise I ended up coming home with $2,000.00 extra. I don't drink so I save a ton of money
there. Nor do I go to the expensive restaurants that are not included in the price of the trip. Save money there. Nor do I care to even leave the ship on expensive rip off trips.
So what extras are you spending on a trip each time? Oh I don't smoke either. Save money there.
I do tip. I respect the employees of their hard work and having to be away from their families so long at a time.
I only gamble twice a year. So it is entertainment to me. And I love it.
Each and everybody has different opinion. Its our duty to spend our hard earned money properly.
It seems many people do like playing blackjack, even i have tried it with my husband.
Lighten up OP; adults can decide for themselves and deal with the consequences. Gambling is entertaining and besides, I found a way to win--I own stock in casinos.
To gamble or not to gamble is an individual's choice.
I don't see why anyone shoud be concerned by how other people spend their money.

When the casinos opened in Atlantic City ,my late BIL and I would go at least once a week.My wife said I was nuts . Currently she loves to go more than I do. I was fortunate to have won some money in the recent NCAA basketball tourney and that will be my cruise gambling money /
For some reason I win more on cruise ships than in on land casino's .

Thanks ,Manuel . We will likely spend most of our evenings at sea in the casino .While in port we will likely be sitting outside or listening to music .
