This has nothing to due with our upcoming cruise, but I thought I would get your votes!! My husband and I will be in Vegas next month and really have no idea how to play table games. So, we have decided to take a poll, we have some chips to use at the tables and have decided on the roulette wheel?? What is your choice??
Neither. Play straight up on a couple of numbers. Look at the last number out on the wheel and play the number on either side of it. One side of the wheel always seems weighted and the ball lands in that area more frequently. Keep track of the numbers on a piece of paper and you can find the weighted spot easily. Have fun
Black or red... neither. Stay away from the roulette table. It is a suckers game. If you must play, look for a wheel with a single zero (most wheels you will see have a 0 and 00). The single 0 has a house advantage of 2.7% where the double zero 00 wheels have a house edge of 5.3%. Stay away from the 0, 00, 1, 2, 3 bet. The house advantage on it is 7.9%.
Look at the pay tables for video roulette before you play. While they may offer a single 0 on the screen which is good, they only pay 31:1 for a single number and 15:1 for two numbers which bumps up the house edge to almost 16%.
One good thing about roulette is because it is a suckers game with a high house advantage you will accrue comps quickly if you can play hard and long enough.

If you want to gamble in Vegas:
Blackjack is the best if you know what you are doing and play properly. Drinking or being tired can adversley affect your play. How you play your hand can affect the person next to you and at a serious table you can make enemies if you do not play good strategy.
I love craps. Once you figure it out you just do the same things over and over. No matter how tired or drunk just do the same thing. A pass line bet with 5x odds has a house edge of only .3%. --- The game is scary and complex to step up to but you can do no wrong. You really can not screw-up. Just tell the dealers you are new and they will guide you through. A "virgin" (a person who has never played craps) is usually considered very good luck and welcomed. If you are a woman who has never played before... even better.
Baccarat is a game most people overlook. The house edge is only 1 to 1.25% and it is a very simple game you can play drunk and tired.
Past numbers have nothing to do with the current spin of the wheel. The ball has no memory. It is called an independant trial. Stay away from games with a high house advantage. Roulette, let it ride poker, and games like that. Sometimes they are called carnival games ( not the cruiseline ). Unless you are just trying to get lucky, play either craps or blackjack. The odds can almost be in your favor ( almost ). There will always be an edge for the house. Try and play a game that has the lowest edge.
If you go to the casino gift shop. They usually sell books or cheat sheets that will tell you what the house advantage is.
It is true that the house edge on a 5X odds bet at craps is only 0.3%. The problem is that you have to bet five times the minimum, so your dollar rate of loss is just as great. The lowest house edge on a minimum bet is in blackjack, if you play correct basic strategy, which requires some practice.
I have been on some cruises where the table minimums are set very low the first night, to acquaint newcomers with the games.
