If you enjoy playing blackjack as part of your cruise entertainment (as I do), keep an eye on any rule changes. Seeming small changes can be very important. The recent change where the dealer hits rather than stands on a soft 17, is a negative for the player. However, I have tolerated this change, and still play, although less than before.
Some land based casinos have recently introduced something called “6 to 5 blackjack” When the player gets a blackjack, the payoff is 6 to 5 instead of the traditional 3 to 2. This means that on a $5 bet you would only get $6 instead of $7.50, for a blackjack. If the cruise lines ever introduce this rule, I’ll quit playing. The “6 to 5” game is awful for the player. The house edge is TRIPLE what it is under the current “hit soft 17” rule!
