Maybe off topic but then again, maybe not.
We went on a segment of the QE2's 1998 RTW cruise with Pied Piper. As we closed the Yacht Club disco every night, we got to know the nightowls and always ended up dancing with a group of very attractive, relatively youthful black women. Not meaning to be racist but fascinated by their presence (I mean, diversity on the QE2 means old rich Americans, old rich Brits, old rich Germans, old rich Japanese) we asked what their, er, "role" was.
They told us they were paid escorts for some of the elderly male passengers on board. The deal (which apparantly was repeated year after year - they all knew one another from past cruises) was the ticket, cash for clothes and evenings off in return for "personal care" during the day. Asked to deliniate the extent of personal care, one replied, not at all indignantly "I cut up his chicken and tuck him in by 7:30 at night."
Seemed like a good deal to me.
